FOUR novice cyclists, FOUR hundred and 44 miles, FOUR days, FOR Adam.
This April, four of us will be cycling 444 miles from Glasgow to Essex over four days (20–24 April) in memory of Adam - a much loved husband, father, son, brother and friend - who we lost to suicide in November 2024. His sudden and unexpected death devastated all who loved him.
This foundation has been set up in dedication to Adam, and to help fund critical research into the biological factors that can increase suicide risk. By supporting science that looks beneath surface symptoms, we aim to move treatment from reactive crisis response to proactive, preventative care that intervenes before despair becomes dangerous.
Beyond Assumption challenges stigma through open, honest conversation routed in science. By shifting the focus from blame to understanding, we aim to change how society talks about suicide - recognising it as the outcome of complex, treatable conditions, and replacing silence and judgement with knowledge, compassion, and responsibility.
Any donation will be greatly received and appreciated as we take our first step (or pedal in this case) as a registered charity to raise money to help drive a seismic shift in our understanding and treatment of suicide risk.
Thank you for your help!
